InternationalPaper.com. Position Scope: The Pine Hill Mill is a
complex, fully integrated pulp and paper manufacturing facility
with two paper machines. The mill includes multiple process lines
of wood handling, pulping, power and recovery, and effluent
treatment. The scope of the position includes implementing,
coordinating, maintaining, monitoring, and improving the progress
of environmental programs. The position works within the EHS&S
group and reports to the Environmental Manager. PL can vary based
on experience level. Position Responsibilities: The Environmental
Engineer---s duties and responsibilities include, but are not
limited to: Ensuring that the mill is aligned with corporate
initiatives and priorities Interfacing directly with state
regulatory agencies and community members to represent the mill
within the community and region Participates in environmental
compliance audits and assists the site in closing the open action
items Prepares, reviews, updates and submits environmental
inspections and reports Interacting with and providing regulatory
guidance to mill operations, maintenance, and management personnel
on a day-to-day basis Working with operations and maintenance to
prioritize maintenance work and communicate needs back through the
MWS team Participating as a member of EHS&S department;
maintaining strong relationships with other business unit personnel
as well as operating and maintenance department leaders
Coordinating and communicating with operating departments regarding
regulatory concerns/support, including periodic training for
salaried and hourly teams on environmental compliance as needed
Working with mill engineering and operations to evaluate capital
projects for potential permitting needs as well as projects for the
wastewater and solid waste processes Serving on a weekend duty team
for the EHS&S group Providing environmental outage
coordination, both for routine and annual outages Acting as
owner---s representative for contractors providing services within
EHS&S department Providing visible and active leadership in
delivering excellent safety results Completing safety audits to
ensure internal and external resources are complying with safe work
practices Reporting and communicating safety and performance
measurements against objectives Leading and delivering results
through systems; assuring compliance with IP expectations
Developing Corrective Actions Plans to address systematic gaps
Participating and leading in the development of Environmental
Management System procedures Actively using and improving upon
existing systems for managing daily activities, including
development of standard operating procedures (SOP) Initiating and
facilitating problem solving through trouble-cause-correction
processes (TCC) Understanding and promoting Manufacturing
Excellence (ME) tools and processes; participating and leading ME
improvement initiatives in the department Supporting 5S and
housekeeping programs for the area and driving improvement
projects, audit systems, and excellent results Implementing systems
to improve/sustain results Facilitating the implementation of new
procedures and controls required by the change in facilities,
products, and corporate policies and procedures Desired Skills:

decisions Required Experience: No less than five (5) years of in a
manufacturing environment (pulp and paper industry experience
preferred). Environmental area experience or knowledge is
preferred. Knowledge and experience with practical application of
environmental regulations desired. Bachelor---s degree in
engineering, environmental sciences, or other related field
required. Must be experienced using a computer and skilled in word
processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), SAP business
systems, and other databases. Plant Applications and PI ProcessBook
experience preferred. Position level may vary based on experience.
