Job Description:
Our food manufacturing client is currently seeking a Controls
Engineer for their plant in the Luverne, AL area. The Controls
Engineer will work with minimal supervision, and is responsible for
the continuous improvement of plant processes and equipment
including design, PLC program changes, equipment upgrades,
electrical documentation, uptime improvements, and maintenance
expense reduction. This position assists in directing and managing
all electrical and mechanical services for the facility and the
maintenance of all production machinery/equipment, physical plant,
utilities and grounds in accordance with federal, state, and local
regulations and company policies. May work on special projects
assigned and may travel to other locations to assist with similar

responsibilities:Responsible for providing a safe working
environment including compliance with company, state, local and
federal policies and regulations. Maintains highest standard of
Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance
for self and others to OSHA standards.Ensures company standards for
cleanliness, food and equipment safety and efficient
productivity.Ensures
production-packaging area to be in compliance with Quality
standards.Ensures compliance to quality, food safety , HAACP
support programs and Food Defense; assures conformity to all
company, customer and government standards.Effectively communicates
verbally and written with Team Members, Management, Customers &
Vendors and ensures compliance to this. Works respectfully with all
team members to ensure the Safety, Quality, production and support
of our products and goals on a daily basis.Provides training,
direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership and
mentoring
to subordinates.Manage continuous improvement and modernization
efforts of older systems within the plantActively participates in
special projects or tasks when necessary.Actively participates in
department/shift/team meetings and is involved with suggestions of
improvement/resolutions & follow-up to employees.Promotes
integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and
positive interactions with all Team Members, customers & vendors.
Supports the daily machine uptime and plant operations. Possess
good trouble shooting skills for electrical and electronic problems
related to devicenet, PLC, PLC-Network and AC/DC Drive issues, or
Temperature controls. Design electrical control systems Leading
machine improvement and machine up-grade projectsDesign, install,
maintain, and modify PLC systemsUnderstand and be able to install
and troubleshoot AC/DC drives and motors
Motor control circuits from 480VAC, 208/120VAC, 24VDC, 12VDC.
Understand and be able to install and troubleshoot AC/DC drives and
motorsUnderstand and be able to work with relays, contacts,
transformers, motor starters, sensors, switches, etc.Technical
support and software changes of PLC based equipmentAssist
maintenance supervisors with machinery issuesReduce repeat downtime
issues on machinesAssist in start-up of new technologyContribute to
cost savings ideas and effortsAnalyze new designs supplied by new
machine sales repsRegular Attendance is required in accordance with
Company attendance policy and procedures.Performs tasks or
responsibilities as assigned by Management.Qualifications &
Requirements:Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or
equivalent experienceExperience in modifying, uploading, and
downloading programs, design and programming of Manufacturing
controls using Allen Bradley,
SIEMENS, Operator interface devices and AC/DC Drives
Experience with DeviceNet, Ethernet & Profibus Network
CommunicationStrong electrical troubleshooting skillsProject
Management experienceKnowledge on how to modify, upload, download,
programs on
Allen Bradley Panel View, Panel View Plus, and Panel View Plus 6
programs. Complete knowledge of and ability to design and use relay
logic, ladder logic, pneumatic logic and hydraulic logic.Industrial
experience with electrical control systemsKnowledge of Wonder
WareAbility to write in advanced control system programming
Experience with SQL Server and batch management systems
preferredThis position requires some mechanical knowledge of
process machinery to support machine improvements and
implementation for new equipment Flexible schedule to support 2nd
and 3rd shifts when neededAbility to work individually and as part
of a teamPositive leadership and self-motivation skills.
