Job DescriptionThe RN performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for the assigned patients on a unit during a shift. The RN is responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice, which includes managing all assigned personnel, supplies and equipment on the unit and for the collaboration with all members of the health care team.RequirementsEducation: Basic nursing education required for RN licensureExperience: Entry level RNLicenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Alabama; BLS required. See Competency Matrix for specific requirements for different areas.Equipment/Tools/Work Aids: Equipment used in the delivery of patient care; telephone, fax, copier, personal computer and related software.Specialized Skills: Good communications and interpersonal skills, critical thinking skills and time management skills; ability to form effective working relationship with employees, management and physicians. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Good problem solving and organizational skills.Physical Requirements: Visual and hearing acuity. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to assist in moving patients/equipment involving a minimum of 50 pounds. Manual dexterity necessary to perform routine job task. Ability to meet attendance requirements of job.
