Job Description:
The Central Alabama Veteran Health Care System (CAVHCS) located
in Montgomery and Tuskegee, AL is searching for a BE/BC
Psychiatrist to join their dynamic healthcare team. As selected
Staff Psychiatrist, you will be assigned to Mental Health &
Behavior Medicine (MH&BM) Service Line (Outpatient) and
function under the direct supervision of the Associate Chief of
Staff for MH&BS. CAVHCS has Psychiatrist openings at our
Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Tuskegee, AL,
Monroeville, AL and Montgomery AL. The Psychiatrist oversees a
variety of professional assignments for the treatment patients
afflicted with all spectrums and co-morbid conditions of mental
disorders and substance abuses in the MH&BS at CAVHCS. Duties
include but not limited to: Psychiatric evaluation/assessment,
psychiatric medication management, treatment plan, coordinator of
veteran's overall mental health care, referral of patients,
operation of quality assurance and utilization programs including
peer reviews, open and closed. Psychiatrist participates in
interdisciplinary MH&BM to provide comprehensive mental health
services in the assigned clinical setting. Provides formal and
informal direct supervision and didactic time to residents and
trainees per local CAVHCS policies and School of Medicine
affiliated programs. Board certified or board eligible by American
Board of Psychiatry or Neurology (ABPN) required. Basic Cardiac
Life Support (BCLS) required. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday,
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Occasional weekend calls) Salary Range: Up
to $240,000 per yearRecruitment/relocation incentive may be
authorized for a highly qualified candidate Applicant selected for

the availability of funds. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: a. Citizenship.
Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it
is not possible to recruit qualified citizens)
b. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree
resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic
medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the
schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year
in which the course of study was completed.
Approved schools are: (1) Schools of medicine holding regular
institutional membership in the Association of American Medical
Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. (2) Schools
of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic
Association for the year in which the degree was granted. (3)
Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body
of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in
the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted
licensure.
c. Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted
license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or
Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
The physician must maintain current registration in the State of
licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current
licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure
requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than
the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.
d. Physical Standards: All applicants must meet the physical
standards required by this position. e. English Language
Proficiency. Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct
patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written
English as required.
Applicant must be board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
or Neurology.
