Data Center Technician

General Position Summary The Data Center Operator role will be
responsible for the physical install, removal, and relocation of
server, storage, and networking hardware across all of Davita
Medical Group Optum Care's data centers, server rooms, and clinics.
This team member will also be responsible for maintaining
departmental documentation, backup tape rotations, and stored
inventory. Essential FunctionsResponsibilities Maintain accurate
documentation of equipment in stored inventory and production
hardware Physical installation, removal, and relocation of hardware
both within and across multiple DMG Optum Care locations.
Massive-scale Daily back up tape rotations Able to troubleshoot and
repair common hardware components such as hard drives, memory
errors, motherboard issues, etc. across a wide variety of
manufactures Provide shipping and receiving support and assist
other team members Vendor management at the site- escalations,
escort, assistance in troubleshooting Escalation of incidents and
problems to management Ensure that we remain HIPPA compliant from a
physical hardware perspective at all times Adhere to departmental
practices, policies, and operating procedures in regards to proper
cabling, installation, and removal hardware Understands effective
communication across all levels of the organization (both upward
and downward) with the appropriate message, the right tone, and the
appropriate level of impact. Recognizes problems and is able to
make recommendationsdecisions on the best course of action to
remediate. Specific Job Skills and Experience bull Between 2 and 5
years physical Data Center experience supporting the data center
equipment and or infrastructure) Power, Space, Cooling, Equipment,
and Cabling). bull Knowledge of basic electrical requirements and
conversions (i.e. Kilowatts, Amps, phases, etc.) Knowledgeable in
Data Center best practices (i.e. basic fault tolerance, cable
routing, calculating power usage) bull Operational experience with
Windows and Unix operating systems bull Strong cable management
skills and experience running fiber and copper in a data center.
Able to terminate copper CAT5e CAT6 cables with RJ45 connectors.
Experience working in a Structured ITIL and or ISO environment
utilizing Problem, Change, and Incident disciplines. Capability to
spend extended durations standing and walking. Proficient in
Microsoft Office. Strong attention to detail. Able to lift a
minimum of 50 lbs.
