Job Description:

The Mental Health First Aid Training (MHFA) Specialist works with a team on a veterans suicide prevention project and reports to the Program Manager. The MHFA Specialist must be currently certified to teach Mental Health First Aid training classes and be able to ensure the goals and objectives of the project are achieved while providing administrative, training and programmatic support.

*CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*

* Complete administrative tasks, training, and other programmatic support activities
* Conduct Mental Health First Aid training targeting veterans, military members, and military family members
* Conduct other trainings as needed to the targeted populations
* Assist with project data collection and generating grant reports
* Facilitate project meetings and other program and community meetings, as directed
* Other duties as assigned

*ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS*

* Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a human services field with one year of experience in training and providing direct services in at least one of the following areas: mental health and/or substance abuse prevention or treatment services, suicide, health promotion services, school services, community organizing. Experience may be cumulative
* Advanced experience in group facilitation and public speaking
* Advanced user of Microsoft Office, knowledge of other software applications (e.g., desktop publishing, etc.---) Extensive knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders
* Regularly sits at a desk, drives a vehicle, and lifts/moves objects weighing up to 50 lbs
* Works for sustained periods of time maintaining concentrated attention to detail
* Must pass a criminal background and drug test

*WORKING CONDITIONS *

* Flexibility and ability to work evenings and weekends as necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the program
* Work requires traveling using personal vehicle- Mileage compensation is provided
* Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance required

Pay: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00 per year
